Here are a list of initiatives set by the Liverpool Culture Company for 2008.

• La Machine: Les Mecaniques Savants Liverpool is about to experience the biggest and most spectacular piece of free theatre ever seen in the UK. Taking place over one magical long weekend, La Machine is a gigantic mechanical spider which will explore the city, accompanied by a team of scientists which will investigate its journey through the city’s landmarks, trying to find out where it came from, why it is here and where it wants to go. Friday 5th – Sunday 7th September 2008 (Prologue 3rd and 4th September).
• European Boxing Championships Finals corporate hospitality offer for 08bc members The Tournament Director has agreed to an exclusive offer of a 5% discount on tables of ten guests for 08 businessconnect members. Preliminary rounds from 6-13 November will be at Greenbank Sports Academy with the Finals taking place on Saturday 15th November at the state of the art Echo Arena, Liverpool.
• HAVE YOUR SAY ON LIVERPOOL’S NEW PUBLIC ART MURAL CELEBRATING THE LINKS BETWEEN LIVERPOOL AND IRELAND The Liverpool Mural Project is a unique and exciting project, which unites the skills and experience of Belfast mural artists from both communities, Belfast Loyalist Mark Ervine and Republican Danny Devenny, together with community groups and artists in Liverpool. The current project is to restyle the facade of The New Picket venue which is located on New Bird Street, off Parliament Street.
• World Firefighter Games official programme - 08bc get a 40% discount on the rate card An A4 magazine is being produced for the World Firefighters Games in the ACC Liverpool. 20,000 copies are being printed a full colour, which will be on public sale throughout the event, and 08 businessconnect members receive a 40% discount when placing adverts.
• 08businessconnect at Liverpool International Tennis 2008 Due to the success of our corporate hospitality networking offer at the Liverpool Sound concert, we are now having an 08 businessconnect area at the Liverpool International Tennis 2008, at a special discounted rate of £95 per person, on Tuesday 10th June.

• Impacts 08 release their latest report on Capital of Culture results Impacts 08 is happy to announce the publication of three new reports within the research theme of Economic Impacts and Processes. Their research looks at the impact of the Liverpool European Capital of Culture award and the business community, and how it is affected by Liverpool’s ECoC activities.

• New FREE place to exhibit and sell your artwork in Liverpool The Metropolitan Cathedral is working with Open Culture to invite Visual Artists and Designer Makers to display, exhibit and sell their artwork on the Cathedral’s outdoor Piazza, on designated dates throughout the year. This includes Paintings, Photographs, Limited Edition Prints, Small Sculptures, Ceramics, Jewellery, Glass, Textiles and other similar artwork and/or crafts.
